The soundtrack to The Faggot, one of the first openly gay musicals, was released in 1973. Al Carmines, the writer and director of The Faggot, was an ordained minister and also wrote hymns.
The soundtrack to Let My People Come, a musical covering a wide varieties of sexualities which included “I'm Gay” and “And She Loved Me,” was released in 1974.
